WASHINGTON, DC—September 13, 2016—Whiteboard Advisors recently served as policy advisor to The Riverside Company on its investment in n2y LLC, a leading developer of education curricula and teaching materials for K-12 students with special needs. Based in Huron, Ohio, n2y offers its products to teachers and school administrators through a cloud-based subscription platform. Terms were not disclosed.
Whiteboard Advisors is a boutique strategy firm that advises investors and entrepreneurs on both public policy and market dynamics in education, health, and wellness. In 2015, Whiteboard was named one of the top organizations in Washington making an impact in education.
“On multiple occasions Whiteboard Advisors has provided us with insight into complex policy and market issues,” said Riverside Partner Peter Tsang. “Their deep understanding of the political and regulatory landscape helped our team better understand the policies impacting special education.”
The Riverside Company is a global private equity firm focused on acquiring and investing in growing businesses valued at up to $400 million.
“The intersection of local, state and federal education policy can create complexity for investors,” said Ben Wallerstein, CEO and Co-Founder of Whiteboard Advisors. “Our job is to cut through the noise to help Peter’s team understand the real issues, and support n2y’s efforts to deliver its proprietary, symbols-based language and lessons to more teachers, administrators, and students.”
The Whiteboard Advisors research was led by Senior Vice President David DeSchryver, an attorney and national expert on the implications of education policy and practice. His analysis of the recently passed federal education law, the Every Student Succeeds Act, is available here.
