As legislative sessions ramp up in state houses across the country, most governors start the year with ‘State of the State’ addresses which outline their major political, fiscal, and policy priorities. Education issues often play a central role in the governors’ annual addresses, and this year is shaping up to be no different.

As of today, more than half of the states’ (26) governors have set the date or their State of the State address. Twelve governors — Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, New Jersey, New York, South Dakota, Washington, and West Virginia — will give their addresses this week.
