Three years following the attack of Malala Yousafzai, a young Pakistani woman who stood up to the Taliban and defended her right to an education, Fox Searchlight is releasing HE NAMED ME MALALA, which documents the story of the now youngest-ever Nobel Prize laureate.
With the pending release of the film, The Malala Fund has teamed up with Participant Media—who brought us the movie Teach—and Fox Searchlight on a new campaign, Students Stand With Malala (SSWM). The program will provide free school field trips for students to see the film in 25 states across the U.S.
Students Stand With Malala is available to all interested teachers and students on a first come, first served basis. This film is rated PG-13, so all students participating in the field trip program must be over the age of 13 or have written parental consent.
Curriculum and discussion guides will be available to all teachers to facilitate post-screening lessons back in the classroom. HE NAMED ME MALALA will be released in the U.S. on October 2, 2015. Global distribution will begin on November 6, 2015. For more information on the film and how to participate in the campaign, visit the website here.
