Whiteboard Advisors’ “Queen’s Court” series highlights changemakers working at the crossroads of learning and economic mobility.

In this episode, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, music legend, and Uwill advisor Darryl “DMC” McDaniels discusses student mental health, his legacy, and the “future of hip-hop,” which turned 50 this month.

So how do you address access barriers and the stigma that all too often discourage learners from seeking help?

“If you remove guilt and shame, you remove the pain. We are taught that you are not supposed to be vulnerable and weak, but it’s good when bad things happen because you are now in a position to recognize it and do something about it.”

The vast – and growing – student mental health crisis is creating unprecedented challenges for educators from pre-K to college.

At Whiteboard Advisors, we’re focused on bridging the gap between innovation and practice in collaboration with a fast-growing network of providers that are thinking differently and harnessing the potential of technology to meet the needs of all learners.
