Both chambers of Congress have passed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act of 2022 and it heads to President Joe Biden for his signature on June 24, 2022. The act was developed as a response to the mass shootings in Buffalo, Uvalde, and the hundreds of other locations across the country subject to gun violence.

The bill includes a number of updates related to healthcare services in schools, with a particular focus on expanding access to mental health support and drawing on evidence-based practices and recommendations to improve school safety.
