Content Strategist
Lauren Camera is a seasoned journalist, storyteller, and policy analyst with more than 15 years of experience reporting on domestic policy issues, with a deep focus on education and equity. As a Content Strategist at Whiteboard Advisors, Lauren brings her expertise in crafting compelling narratives that bridge complex policy topics and public engagement.
Before joining Whiteboard Advisors, Lauren served for nearly a decade as a senior writer at U.S. News & World Report, where she led national coverage of education policy, Congress, the White House, and the Supreme Court.
She was a 2020 finalist for the Society of Professional Journalists’ investigative reporting award and a 2013 Spencer Education Fellow at Columbia Journalism School.
Lauren has contributed to a range of leading outlets, including Education Week, The Hechinger Report, Roll Call, Congressional Quarterly, and The Chronicle of Higher Education. A sought-after analyst, she’s appeared on C-SPAN and national radio, and regularly moderates panels and presents at institutions like The Brookings Institution, The Education Trust, the American Enterprise Institute, and SXSW EDU.
In addition to her consulting and writing, Lauren is an adjunct professor at American University, where she teaches graduate students how to communicate complex policy ideas with clarity and impact.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in English and Sociology from Colby College and a master’s degree in Journalism from Boston University.
