Greg Marak

Prior to Whiteboard Advisors, Greg spent a decade in the student loan policy space, most recently working for the U.S. Department of Education across three administrations, primarily in the Office of Federal Student Aid (FSA).

Greg also completed a detail with the Office of Postsecondary Education in 2024, helping to facilitate the negotiated rulemaking process for the Biden administration’s Student Loan Debt Relief proposed regulations. Prior to FSA, Greg worked for a government relations and consulting firm, providing service to a coalition of higher education institutions and campus-based collections organizations as well as a committee of private student lenders.

Greg was born in Asunción, Paraguay and grew up in Northford, Connecticut. He went on to earn his B.S. in Political Science from George Washington University, where he had his first glimpse of the education policy world through an internship with the National Education Association. 

He lives in Washington, D.C. with his partner, Betsy, and enjoys running, hiking, swimming, and exploring bookstores and literary events around the city. One of his most prized possessions is a signed letter from Jimmy Carter, the backstory of which he proudly regales at dinner parties.
