As a member of Whiteboard Advisors’ higher education and workforce practices, Sonya advises nonprofits, social impact companies and startups on communications and strategy. She develops and executes multi-dimensional campaigns that harness the power of earned media strategy, brand storytelling, and influencer engagement to advance their missions.
A bilingual communications strategist, Sonya’s specialty is working with organizations who are working to advance equity and economic mobility and elevating the diverse perspectives of learners, workers, and practitioners.
In her most recent role before joining Whiteboard Advisors, Sonya worked at a DC-based, mission-driven communications agency where she served philanthropy, nonprofit and Fortune 500 clients focused on education and social impact and supported a 50-state, bilingual automotive safety campaign. She previously worked with Discovery Education to help launch Spanish-language health and wellbeing programs in Latin America.
Beyond her work at Whiteboard Advisors, Sonya performs as an alto soloist in the Washington, D.C.-based, award-winning a cappella ensemble, The Capital Hearings, where she also serves on the Board of Directors and as Communications Director. In 2020, Sonya was named a member of the FUTURES Class of 2020 by ADCOLOR, a national nonprofit that identifies and nurtures the next generation of diverse talent in creative industries. Sonya graduated from Wesleyan University with a double major in the College of Letters and Hispanic Literatures and Cultures and a Writing Certificate. Her multicultural upbringing in an Argentine Jewish and Indian Muslim family inspires Sonya to build bridges and find common ground across communities.
